The book doesn’t help you learn real estate at all. The book just gives you pros and cons against investing in stocks.

I just received this book in the mail today. Have not had a chance to read it, but by just scanning through it I can tell you that if you are interested in REI, this is the first book you should get. It is layed out perfectly, seems to get straight to the point whilst covering everything. If you’ve read a Carleton Sheets course, you will find this to be MUCH more concise. Can’t wait to read it.

The “excerpts” from the book reveal that this book is mostly about WHY to invest in real estate…not HOW !!! I want definitive steps to take on how to invest. I don’t want to be convinced that real estate is better than stocks, etc. I already know this! That’s why I want to buy this book. So the reviews above seem exaggerated and inaccurate.

I admittedly have not read this book. However, I glanced through it a number of times and to me it appears to be an excellent and well-priced publication in real estate. More in point, I have seen other works of this author and in my opinion–partially based I suppose on fact that I do some writing and reviewing in real estate (computations, law and math) and am a real estate attorney/instructor!–this author is first rate. McLean does not write nonsense or frilly “get rich quick” marketing-based stupidity! His work, like everything I have seen from his publisher (Wiley) is first class.

Finally, when this book arrived I put the unopened box into a large envelope and sent it to my cousin “G” in Arizona. This book, I feel (along with my “Professional Real Estate Problem Solving Using the HP-12C”) will hopefully give my cousin a decent if not solid foundation in what is pretty much needed as a prospective real estate investor-type.

I regularly recommend this book to people who call me from all over the country, assuming, of course, they ask for a recommendation for a no-nonsense, fairly priced real estate investment-type book.

I caution, respectfully, that there are absolutely no “easy” answers to success in this business. None of us has “all” the answers. Hard work and perserverence, fair dealing and always following good/ethical business practices trumps any book, mine well included.

A for real author and a for real publisher. That’s it folks.

Plain & simple….this is one of the best real estate investing books I have ever read. I recommend it to anyone interested in residential real estate investing.
